To all the SAVA 100 owners.

Can someone confirm for me the pin count for the connection cable?   I know it is a 15 pin cable, but do you have 7 pins on the top and 8 pins on the bottom?

Thanks for your help!

Well looks like a few weeks has turned into Months.  But have no fear progress has been made!   Who knew there was so much to learn about 3d printing.

Here is a pic of the latest prototype.

I still need to work out the rest of the connector to prevent the ends from shorting at the crimp.  Back to it,  I’ll keep you all posted.

Thanks to all of those who have been patiently waiting.

I got tired of waiting for time on my friends 3d printer so I just bought one.

Give me a few weeks to get this thing set up and some quality prints out of it and we will be in full production for the SAVA 10,15 and 35 cables.

To all SA-VA 15, 35, 100 owners.   In my previous post I was polling about the retrofit connectors and which way I should build the kits.

Well forget all of that.  I decided that it was just too cumbersome and went another route all together.  Check out the pic below.  I decided to ditch the kit idea all together and went back to the drawing board and I am currently working on a connector that will directly fit the systems.

What you are seeing is the first prototypes from the 3d printer.

Hey Guys,

Just making a quick post here to ask your opinion on something.

The SAVA 10 and 15 systems  have a small circuit board in the RH speaker.

Now developing the retrofit kits for these systems I can build it two ways.

So I figured I would ask you guys how you would want them built.

Option A: Is to provide two plugs that will hook to the existing speaker wires in the RH speaker.  Therefore making the little circuit board pictured above obsolete.
(Note SAVA 10 owners will have to replace the 2 pin connector also on their systems because of the style of connector that sony used. Basically its soldered to the board, so you can’t unplug it. This will require crimping a new connector in to place, or I can make up a pig tail. )image (2)

Option B:  Is to unsolder the the large black connector on the small circuit board shown above and I will provide you with a new one in the kit to fit the new cable.
I will be able to build this cable cheaper than Option A just because its less parts and less labor.

As I mentioned in the comments below, both solutions will require soldering, because you have to replace the factory connector on the amp in the LH speaker. (unless some one has an injection molding machine) A new replacement connector for the LH side will be included in the kit, along with a manual that shows how to install this kit into your stereo.

Thoughts, Questions, Concerns Post them in the Comments below.

Thanks,

Wow, its been a while since I have updated this blog but I am bringing good news today.

Long story short I have found a connector that will work for the SA-VA 10 and 15 units.

It’s not a direct plug and play like the rest of my cables, you will have to remove the old connector on the LH side

and solder the new connector in place.  The RH side did yield itself to be a little more user-friendly and is a plug-in connection to the internal speaker connectors.

I have a SA-VA 15 unit in-house to develop this kit on, so its ready to go. But Sony changed the wiring and connectors on the SA-VA 10 units, and this has provided me with a little snag.  Therefore, if you own a SA-VA 10 unit and have a screwdriver and a digital camera please contact me.

I know many of you have been waiting for me to find these connectors.

Well, there is good new and bad news.  I have found them, the problem is they have been discontinued (According to the West coast office). If you call the East coast office they tell you the tooling has been destroyed and give you some big run around. I have been dealing with these clowns for over four months trying to get the correct parts quoted.

So here is all the information I have obtained.
